Infertility is a condition which results in both male and female. However, the percentage of female infertility is more than male infertility. Here we are going to discuss female infertility. Previously, a female is considered to be infertile if she is not able to conceive within one year of marriage without the use of any form of contraception. But nowadays, people are mature enough and thinking about family planning. The ratio of female infertility has gradually increased in the present scenario due to stress and an unhealthy lifestyle. In the case of females, infertility also means the condition when a female is unable to maintain or carry a pregnancy. It is a very common infertility disorder seen in urban as well as rural areas and usually found in one of every five couples.
Female infertility can be distinguished into two types: –
Primary stage infertility: – It can be defined as the condition when women who have never conceived in the past and facing challenges to become pregnant.
Secondary stage infertility: – It is a condition where women had a successful pregnancy in the past but are facing difficulty to become pregnant again.
What are the factors which make women infertile?
Now the question arises! What could be the underlying factors which hamper the fertility rate in women? Here are some factors which can turn women infertile: –
The problem in the ovulation: – Ovulatory problems may be due to various reasons like irregular periods, hyperprolactinemic amenorrhea, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), pituitary disorders. At least 25% of the infertility cases are due to Ovulatory problems.
Blockage in a fallopian tube: – Around 20% of women are seen with a blockage in the fallopian tube. A blockage is seen in the fallopian tubes due to the presence of an infection, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, etc.
Poor quality of eggs: – Several factors can impact the health condition of the ovaries along with the eggs they release every month. Some of them include a poor and sedentary lifestyle, hormonal imbalance, autoimmune disorders and life-threatening serious medical health conditions like cancer, etc.
Endometriosis: – Endometrium is the innermost layer of the uterus that lines the uterus. When this layer starts growing outside the uterus, then this condition is known as Endometriosis. Slowly and gradually this layer starts covering the ovaries, bowel and the lining of your pelvis resulting in blockage of the fallopian tube. It further also hampers the implantation of the fertilized egg resulting in infertility.
Unexplained fertility: – In some cases, the underlying reason for infertility is not known. There could be several factors responsible in combination with the infertility issue.
